Hopefully the first three steps have helped you build your profile and are making you appear as the complete person you really are! The next four steps below will help round out the rest of your profile.

Step 4 - Your Ideal Clients

You want to position your profile so that when your ideal client reads it, they would quickly realize that you could be the solution they are looking for to solve one or many of their problems. Your profile needs to speak directly to the problems they are facing and why you are the one that can help them solve them.

Step 5 - Calls To Action

This is basically asking - what do you want the prospect/reader to do next? Without this detail, most people will leave your profile without knowing what to do or what you want them to do.

Calls to Action or CTA's can come in a variety of forms. Here are some of them:

  • Consultation
  • Download a Free Resource (make sure it is of value)
  • Email you
  • Call you

All you need to do is make it easy on your potential prospects by telling them exactly what you want them to do next.

Step 6 - Knowledge & Authority

Your profile needs to prove that you have the knowledge and authority to solve your potential prospects' problems. Your profile should include additional resources that help show your authority. Examples of this would be articles about you or videos of you speaking on your expertise.

Step 7 - Stand Out

At the end of the day, your profile's main job is to make sure you stand out in the very competitive world that exists on LinkedIn (for most of you). Here are some other things that you should do to complete you perfect profile:

  • Have a professional or clear headshot as your profile photo
  • Have a headline that captures the attention of your ideal client
  • Incorporate videos, slideshares, pdfs and other such content
  • Have a personable, yet professional, cover photo
  • Feature the correct endorsements and other such pieces of social proof

If you follow these steps, I guarantee you will be ahead of 99% of the pack on LinkedIn, when it comes to standing out in your profession to your potential clients!
